12/18 Led Zepplein moment

After days of ick torrential rain, today the sky opened to the most beautiful blue,
just in time for
My first flying lesson at the Santa Monica Airport! with Louis at American Flyers,
and after a basic chalkboard tutorial about flight physics that I coasted through, we went out to the little cessna 172, spent a little time checking around (no water in the blue colored gas),
going over controls,
climbed in,
put a headset on, got my call name and number,
steered the plane out to the runway with my feet, waited for the big boys to land, and then wow reeved the engine, and took off! banked over the Penmar golf course and then out over rose to the pacific.....

after coasting up to Malibu and Point Dume,
Louis taught me more about banking. I jerked the plane and almost threw up.
I laughed, I cried, I circled around to fly over the Getty, then down the 405 till we landed back at the airport and into the sunset.

Louis later confessed that he has only crashed one plane before and that was months ago.....

12/15 Rainy day with the ghost of Chaplin

12/14 the day we wished was still a night

our party-overs were hiding out at the downtown standard rooftop

James woke up from his nap as a disco ball

and Ian brought back-up

Horsemeat! James likes to turn us on/ turn us over with his jams

and James directs me in a silent ballet with sparklers across the rooftop dancefloor

as the re-group is in denial that it might all be over

Sunday's plans of 2 birthday parties (Gemma and Jen) and a happy holidays/ I thought you were Jewish party by Sascha were excruciatingly sabotaged as the donuts/ DFA crew and I roamed Los Angeles from the rooftop of the downtown standard in the midst of weird weather, too little sleep, and fits of music and dancing.
It was all really a slow-dive at fun.
I lit the giant sparklers and did a dance, until Bucky pointed out that it was a lot like the scene from burning man last summer. which of course was the most sobering thing I had ever heard.
heartbreak.
Eventually everyone was on their way, and we-decamped cold and hungry looking for a promised best-homemade-tofu restaurant ever.
which was closed.
We finally ended up at green leaves, where my hangover climaxed in a vegan chicken burger and a lot of embarrassing stories recounted and retold.
goodnight.

So this is how it starts.
I had a studio morning, helium pick-up, and impulse buying spree on giant sparklers (which figured later in the weekend story)
a quick holiday visit with Kristin Ess extraordinaire,
then a costume change and it was off to start the night early with Matt and Lynelle in the hills.
We had a cocktail and then charged into Regen projects early to see the Pettibon show before it got crazy. We took a temporary break from the bar and roamed around the room looking at baseball players, bombers, a dog and a fish.
I am reminded to read trout fishing in america.
Then we tramped across the street to the palm for a fantastic dinner with Adrianna.
After dinner and dropping them off, I raced downtown to help AC and Kat get the party party ready. I was very unhelpful with the balloons, so left to hunt them down some food.
which brought me to Leslie's holiday party a few blocks away.
A small re-union (Seamus!), some pictures, and cuddling with a vodka cranberry lead to a slightly panicked escort and exit and back to the party I had left starting.
It had blown up, started a light show, busted its go-go dancers, snapped in drama and moved into the basement..
James and James were great, my camera was still drunk and took some crazy pictures.
and I might have called some people sluts.
sorry
the night was winding down.
I had to pull it together and drive lovefingers to the airport and then finally, finally, a sunrise later Kateri and I ended back at my house safe with a piece of toast no jam.
